Fabrication

All of our products are manufactured by utilizing mirror quality glazing that is procured from US-based float glass manufacturers. Mirror products are available in thicknesses of 3/32” (2.5mm) to 1/4” (6mm) and glass products up to 3/8” (10mm). Our products are certified to meet ASTM’s high standards — ASTM C 1503 for mirrors and ASTM C 1036 for float glass. All unused scrap material is recycled in accordance with our Environmental Policy.

Mirror Edging

Clean Cut Edge (CC) — The mirror edges are left in their raw cut state, which is sharp to the touch. This edge type is applicable to mirrors that will be installed within another product where the edges are concealed (e.g., framed mirror, mirror panel door, medicine cabinet).

Sanded Edge (SE) — Also referred to as a seamed or a swiped edge, this edge type is similar to clean cut edging, except the sharpness of the edge has been removed to allow for safer product handling.

Polished Edge (PE) — This edge type grinds and polishes the edges so that they are smooth to the touch and aesthetically attractive. This edging is typically applied to frameless mirrors (e.g., bathroom vanity mirror). The profile of the polished edge is a rounded (or pencil) shape and has a matte color.

High Polished Edge (HPE) — This edge type applies a high polishing, which creates a brilliant gloss color finish. This edging is only available for clear glass and is typically requested on thicker glass where the edge of the glass product will be visible (e.g., shelves for a curio cabinet or dining room hutch).

Beveled Mirrors

Beveling is the process of applying a decorative angled edge around the perimeter of the mirror product. Bevel widths can range in size from 1/4” to 1-1/2”. Beveled edging can only be applied to straight edges (e.g., not to shaped mirrors).

Shaped Mirrors

Shaped Mirrors

We use state-of-the-art CNC cutting and edging machines to produce mirrors that have a shape (e.g., oval, round, pill, arch). We create a CAD file of the shaped pattern, which is used by the cutting and edging machines to produce the product within exacting tolerances. Once the CAD file is created, it is stored so that it can be used to quickly reproduce the shaped product on future orders.

Safety Taped Backed Mirrors

Often commercial mirror applications require that the mirror products meet applicable building safety codes in the event of breakage (ANSI Z97). To meet these requirements, we use a special machine that applies a white-colored safety tape backing to the mirror. Our safety tape backing is available in both Category 1 and Category 2 strength and is manufactured in the US.

Packaging

We offer several types of packaging depending on the composition of the order’s contents. Typical packaging includes the following:

Wrapped L-Bucks — This is our most common packaging. The mirrors are packed on an L-shaped wood buck and are secured with stretch wrap and poly straps. This packaging is the most popular as it can be easily and safely moved with a forklift or pallet jack. A standard L-buck will hold material sized up to 42” x 60” — for larger material, we custom build oversized L-bucks.

Crates/Cases — For certain size/quantity orders or per customer request, we utilize custom-built crate packaging. Each crate is custom built specifically for each order to ensure that it will be optimally-sized for the material being packaged.

Metal Racks — For large mirror sizes, the material may be packaged on metal racks. We require that metal racks be returned and assist in that process.

Individually Wrapped Mirrors — Some customers prefer that each mirror be individually wrapped in corrugated cardboard with corner protectors applied — thus providing the ultimate protection for each mirror. This packaging is popular for situations when the customer needs the mirror protected prior to installation or if the mirror is being distributed individually (e.g., showroom floor, catalog sales).
